We are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Effingham last night (13 May).
Police were called following reports of a two-vehicle collision, involving a white BMW and a grey Land Rover Freelander, on the A246 Guildford Road around 10.30pm.
Sadly, the passenger in the BMW, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW, a man in his 20s and the driver of the Land Rover, a man in his 80s, sustained serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.
The families of all three have been made aware.
The driver of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and will be taken into custody once he has been treated for his injuries.
The road is currently blocked in both directions at the junction with The Street and the junction with Calvert Road while we deal with the incident. Road closures are likely to remain in place for some time and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.
We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any other information or any dash cam footage, to contact us straightaway quoting ref PR/SYP-20260513-0828 via:
