Witness appeal following serious collision in Newdigate

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Newdigate.

Officers were called to Broad Lane at the junction with Parkgate Road around 1.30pm on Monday, 1 June following reports of a collision involving the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The van driver, a man in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Were you in the area around Broad Road between 1.30pm and 2pm on Monday, 1 June?
