Officers are investigating after the body of a dog with serious injuries was found in a wooded area known as Tarmac Hill, between Bracknell Road and the Wimbledon Road flats, on Friday, 26 June.
We are working to identify the dog's owner and establish the circumstances surrounding what happened.
Borough Commander, Ryan Scott said: "We understand this incident has caused significant concern within the local community, and we recognise the distressing nature of the circumstances.
"I want to reassure residents that we are treating this investigation seriously. Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish exactly what happened.
"If you have information that you believe could assist us, please report it directly to us so it can be assessed by the investigating officers."
