Find information about our officers' use of force and stop and search powers.
The public rightly expect the police to protect them by using their powers in an
effective and fair manner. When police officers use their powers disproportionately – in differing proportions on different community groups – it causes suspicion among some communities that they are being unfairly targeted.
We are committed to being transparent with the Surrey public about how officers' use of specific powers - notably the use of force, and in stop and search - is monitored and scrutinised.
We have a Facebook group where members of our community are encouraged to ask us questions about Stop and Search and Use of Force. Through this group, we also run Q&A sessions twice a year where our Force leads answer queries about this topic.
