Survey aims/ brief description:
The Joint Neighbourhood Survey (JNS) is a telephone survey carried out by Opinion Research Services (ORS) for Surrey Police and Surrey County Council to obtain information from Surrey residents about their priorities and opinions regarding policing issues and Surrey County Council services.
What taking part involves:
ORS researchers call residents and ask them a variety of questions about Surrey Police, crime in their area and Surrey County Council services. The number they dial out from is 01483355653.
How did ORS get my number?
The research company obtain landline numbers from the “AFD Name and Numbers” UK contact database. From April 22, further landline numbers will be generated by incrementing the last two digits of landline telephone numbers that exist within the AFD Names and Numbers database. This enables access to a genuine cross-section of the public, including those who have elected to be ex-directory and TPS registered.
Additionally, ORS obtain mobile phone numbers from their data supplier (Surrey residents).
Why does it include demographic questions?
The survey includes demographic questions (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity etc.) to establish any differences between different groups experiences with Surrey Police/ Surrey County Council. Respondents do not have to answer these questions.
What happens to the information I give you?
The information gathered from the survey helps to improve public confidence and trust in policing and the council.
Data protection:
All data from the JNS is processed and stored in line with the Data Protection Act 2018, as well as the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
