Your safer neighbourhood team
The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and Police Staff. They are responsible for delivering on neighbourhood policing strategies, directing the deployment of the team and developing relationships with partners and key stakeholders, to enable the neighbourhood policing team to work effectively.
The Neighbourhood Sergeant provides frontline leadership to coordinate neighbourhood team activity, and work with the community, partners and other colleagues, to deliver safer neighbourhoods. This includes directing problem solving and engagement activity, and being responsive to community needs.

Youth Engagement Officers are Police Constables who engage with children and young people, building trust and confidence, whilst working closely with schools and partners. They seek to intervene early, where needed, and be responsive to community needs.
Licensing Officers work closely with local bars, restaurants, and pubs to ensure they are compliant with laws and regulations by evaluating, issuing and monitoring licenses, safeguarding public safety and industry standards. They provide support and direction on statutory and policy requirements for the Borough and a number of stakeholders, including courts, Local Authorities, Neighbouring Boroughs, and are responsible for consultations with Licensing Authorities and the Borough Inspector to determine the Divisional strategy towards licensing applications, enforcement and prosecution.

Retail Crime is a National Priority, and has a significant impact on both businesses and consumers. Surrey Police are dedicated to supporting the businesses that are being repeatedly targeted, as retail workers are often subject to abuse and violence. Hotspot retail crime locations and repeat offenders are the current focus.
Action taken:
Our PCSOs have been holding engagement events in hotspot retail crime locations to increase visibility and ensure that shop staff feel supported. Surrey Police has been working with these businesses to improve crime reporting, and have been working closely with neighbouring forces to help identify suspects and take the appropriate action.

Priority:
Continuing reports of anti-social behaviour and anti-social driving within rural areas. This has significant impacts on communities, including economic, social and environmental.
Action taken:
Local officers are regularly completing more patrols and engagements in rural areas, especially those that have been reporting anti-social behaviour, to show more of a visible presence in the community. Our team is aiming to respond to more ASB calls in person, and further day action is planned with rural partners and the community to conduct reassurance patrols and education on crime prevention techniques
