Neighbourhood policing within Surrey Police is delivered by Safer Neighbourhood Teams in each of the 11 districts and boroughs of the County. Each neighbourhood within the districts and boroughs is served by a dedicated team of officers and staff.
Neighbourhood Teams provide community engagement, targeted foot patrols and collaborative problem solving to tackle the issues that cause the greatest harm in our communities. Teams are made of sergeants, police officers and PCSOs, led by the Borough Commander, with further support provided by other team members - with specialisms in youth engagement, licensing and crime prevention.
Shoplifting

Officers have been working to identify and charge shoplifters active in Ashford. In the last quarter, this included charging one of the area’s most active shoplifters with two counts of theft, one count of burglary and one count of assault. Another prolific shoplifter, who had stolen over £2,000 of goods in the last six months alone, was located, arrested and charged with over nine counts of theft.

Violence against women and girls - VAWG

Local officers, are continuing to conducted high visibility patrols around the key areas identified by the team include Fordbridge Park, Clarendon Road, and surrounding roads near the train station. We are continuing to work with our partners to make it safer. We organise regular public engagement events and meetings to raise the public’s awareness of Violence Against Women and Girls and to give everyone an opportunity to talk to us about anything of concern.

Anti-Social Behaviour

An individual, well known in the Ashford area, came to notice for anti-social behaviour in the area of Fordbridge Park. Officers located the individual, who was arrested for a breach of their Community Behaviour Order, which was dealt with at court. Officers will continue to monitor the situation for any further breaches.

Drug Dealing in Ashford

Local PCSOs have been conducting house to house in the Ashford area and have uncovered drug dealing concerns. From this we have been speaking with local people to understand the ongoings. We have also been working with our partner agencies to resolve the drug dealings.

Local PCSOs have been out and about dealing with the A30 parking issues regarding dangerous parking. We are speaking to local business and places of worship about the dangerous parking. Local PCSOs and officers will continue to conduct high visible patrols around the area.
