Neighbourhood policing within Surrey Police is delivered by Safer Neighbourhood Teams in each of the 11 districts and boroughs of the County. Each neighbourhood within the districts and boroughs is served by a dedicated team of officers and staff.
Neighbourhood Teams provide community engagement, targeted foot patrols and collaborative problem solving to tackle the issues that cause the greatest harm in our communities. Teams are made of sergeants, police officers and PCSOs, led by the Borough Commander, with further support provided by other team members - with specialisms in youth engagement, licensing and crime prevention.
Shoplifting and acquisitive crime
Issued 22 June 2026
Shoplifting - Officers have been conducting regular foot patrols in Staines targeting Shoplifting and Antisocial Behaviour. Local PCSOs have also been visible in Staines and have worked closely with security officers in the town centre for crime prevention.
Acquisitive Crime – We continue to carry out various operations which have been targeting suspects utilising the travel networks with the aim of disrupting their offending. This has resulted in numerous successes including an arrest of a known suspect whilst working alongside our partners and following a pursuit. We have also been proactively targeting prolific offenders, resulting in charges and remands for robbery, as well as using court conditions to deter reoffending and limit their access in and around Staines.
