Your safer neighbourhood team
The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and Police Staff. They are responsible for delivering on neighbourhood policing strategies, directing the deployment of the team and developing relationships with partners and key stakeholders, to enable the neighbourhood policing team to work effectively.
The Neighbourhood Sergeant provides frontline leadership to coordinate neighbourhood team activity, and work with the community, partners and other colleagues, to deliver safer neighbourhoods. This includes directing problem solving and engagement activity, and being responsive to community needs.

Youth Engagement Officers are Police Constables who engage with children and young people, building trust and confidence, whilst working closely with schools and partners. They seek to intervene early, where needed, and be responsive to community needs.
Licensing Officers work closely with local bars, restaurants, and pubs to ensure they are compliant with laws and regulations by evaluating, issuing and monitoring licenses, safeguarding public safety and industry standards. They provide support and direction on statutory and policy requirements for the Borough and a number of stakeholders, including courts, Local Authorities, Neighbouring Boroughs, and are responsible for consultations with Licensing Authorities and the Borough Inspector to determine the Divisional strategy towards licensing applications, enforcement and prosecution.

Shoplifting is a National priority, and has an impact on businesses in the town, as well as consumers.
Action taken:
Surrey Police has made targeting shoplifting within the area a priority, through their commitment to pursuing repeat offenders. Our team has increased patrol activity in hotspot locations, increasing visibility and ensuring that staff of the businesses effected feel supported to report crimes in the future.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) - Continuing reports of ASB and Anti-Social Driving (ASD).
Action taken:
Reports of ASB in Stoughton has increased, and as a response, Surrey Police has made this a priority. Our team has been increasing patrol activity in key locations to ensure a visible presence in the community, to prevent opportunity for ASB and to provide support for the local community. Regular engagement events, held by our PCSOs, provide the public with opportunities to address any concerns and be provided with information as to how Surrey Police are dealing with ASB reports.
