Volunteering with Surrey Police gives you the chance to use your time, skills and enthusiasm to support local residents and help keep Surrey safe. We offer a wide range of flexible and rewarding volunteering opportunities, including:

Special Constable (volunteer police officer)

Become a warranted volunteer police officer with full training and support.
Special constables patrol Surrey’s communities, respond to incidents and help prevent crime alongside our regular officers.

Volunteer Police Cadet Leader

Help guide and inspire our young cadets aged 13–17 as they learn about policing, develop life skills, and take part in community projects.

Police Support Volunteer

Support teams across Surrey Police with tasks ranging from administration and community engagement to fraud prevention and vehicle maintenance. These roles are flexible and designed to complement your skills and availability.

Who can volunteer?

We welcome people from all backgrounds, ages and life experiences. No previous policing experience is needed - just enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine interest in helping others.

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have lived in the UK for the past three years
• Uphold our Code of Ethics | College of Policing

Training and support

All volunteers receive:

• Role‑specific training
• Guidance from experienced staff and officers
• Access to ongoing development opportunities
• Reimbursement of expenses incurred during your volunteering
